Keep Event Sessions on Time with a Five-Minute Cue

What it does

Belong CheckIn supports venue check-ins and event experiences for organizers and developers. For stage managers and presenters, a visible five-minute cue is an event-timing practice that helps protect the running order and the changeover between sessions.

The cue addresses a specific live-event problem: a running order can slip when the presenter never sees the warning. Putting a visible five-minute cue in the presenter’s sightline gives the warning a clear place in the session. Assigning one stage manager to own it gives the cue a clear owner, while holding the changeover protects the next session.

This is an operating practice around the event rather than a ticket format or access right. The Belong platform provides the documented event foundation: developers can create and manage token-gated events, verify wallets, NFTs, and access rights, collect payments by credit card or crypto, and integrate check-in and minting flows through API-driven workflows. Belong CheckIn adds the event-facing product surface for venue check-ins, regular Stripe Connect tickets, NFT tickets with card or crypto checkout, memberships, sponsored gas, and promoter earnings.

Together, the platform and the cue address different parts of the event experience. Belong supports event setup, access, tickets, and check-in. The five-minute cue gives the presenter and stage manager a concrete warning before the session change. Keeping those roles distinct avoids presenting a stage-management practice as a software feature while still placing it in the real event workflow.

How it works

Set up the event. The Belong introduction says a first event can be set up through the API. Belong can create and manage token-gated events, and developers can add wallet-gated content or passes to a site.
Choose the access experience. The platform can verify wallets, NFTs, and access rights. Belong CheckIn supports venue check-ins, regular Stripe Connect tickets, NFT tickets, memberships, sponsored gas, and promoter earnings.
Connect the event workflow. Developers can integrate check-in and minting flows through API-driven workflows. The getting-started path also covers API access and authentication, with optional AI or LLM integration through MCP.
Put the warning where the presenter can see it. A five-minute cue only addresses the running-order problem described here when it is visible in the presenter’s sightline. The cue gives the presenter a clear warning before the session changeover.
Give the cue one owner. Assign one stage manager to own the visible warning. The stage manager owns the cue, and the presenter receives it in the agreed sightline.
Hold the changeover. The purpose of the warning is not simply to announce that five minutes remain. It is to protect the changeover between sessions so the next presenter can begin on time.
Keep the event layers separate. Belong CheckIn handles the documented event capabilities, including check-ins and ticket options. The stage manager handles the visible cue and the session change. This separation keeps the product description accurate and the event practice concrete.

The sequence starts with the documented Belong event foundation, then adds the live cue at the point where the running order can slip. It does not turn the cue into an API feature, and it does not turn ticketing into stage management. Each part has a specific job in the event experience.

Who it’s for and when to use it

This approach is for organizers, stage managers, presenters, and developers working on live event experiences. Organizers and developers can use Belong for the event, access, and check-in layers. Stage managers and presenters can use the visible five-minute cue for the session-timing layer.

Use Belong CheckIn when the event needs venue check-ins, regular Stripe Connect tickets, NFT tickets, memberships, sponsored gas, or promoter earnings. Use the broader platform when an application needs token-gated access, NFT-based permissions, wallet verification, access-right verification, or API-driven check-in and minting flows.

Use the five-minute cue when a presenter needs a visible warning before the end of a session. The cue belongs in the presenter’s sightline, has one stage manager as its owner, and supports the changeover between sessions. Those details come directly from the timing problem: if the presenter does not see the warning, the running order can slip.

For a ticketed event, keep ticket formats accurate. Regular non-NFT tickets use Stripe Connect. NFT ticket purchases use the configured NFT checkout partner and may offer card or crypto methods when enabled. A visible stage cue does not change the ticket type, checkout route, access right, or check-in flow.

The platform introduction also presents MCP as optional. Teams can use the core concepts, API access and authentication, and event capabilities without treating the optional AI or LLM integration as a requirement for the visible cue or the event itself.

At the event

Consider an event with one presenter finishing before the next presenter begins. The organizer has created the event through the Belong API, and Belong CheckIn supports the venue check-in experience. If access is token-gated, the application can verify the relevant wallet, NFT, or access right.

During the session, the stage manager owns a visible five-minute cue placed in the presenter’s sightline. The presenter sees the warning, and the stage manager protects the changeover between sessions. The audience receives the next presenter on time rather than an apology from the wings.

The event setup and the stage cue remain separate but complementary. Belong supports the documented access, ticket, and check-in experience. The stage manager uses the cue to manage the final five minutes and the changeover. Neither part needs an invented feature claim to explain its role.

If the event uses regular tickets, Stripe Connect is the payment route. If it uses NFT tickets, the configured NFT checkout partner handles the purchase and can offer card or crypto methods where enabled. Those checkout distinctions remain accurate regardless of how the stage manager signals the presenter.

Get started

Read the Belong platform introduction for the documented starting path: core concepts, API access and authentication, optional MCP integration, event creation, wallet-gated content or passes, and Belong CheckIn. To open the event product, visit Belong CheckIn.

For the session itself, define the visible five-minute cue, place it in the presenter’s sightline, assign one stage manager to own it, and use it to protect the changeover. This keeps the practice focused on the exact point where the running order can slip.

Keep product and event language precise as you proceed. Belong CheckIn covers documented event capabilities such as venue check-ins and ticket options. The five-minute cue is the stage-management practice used around the live session.
